About Embekke, Lankatilaka and Gadaladeniya
A short drive west of Kandy, three temples from the 14th century make a fine half-day loop: Embekke Devale, famous for its carved wooden pillars; Lankatilaka, on a rock with views; and Gadaladeniya, built of stone with South Indian influences. Dress modestly and remove your shoes.
