About Jaffna Fort

Jaffna Fort was begun by the Portuguese and rebuilt by the Dutch in the 17th century as a star-shaped fortress with ramparts and moats. It has been restored, and a walk along the walls at sunset, looking over the lagoon, is one of the pleasures of the city.
