About Jaffna Public Library

The Jaffna Public Library, with its white domes and arches, is one of the landmarks of the city. It was badly damaged by fire in 1981 and rebuilt, reopening in the early 2000s, and is a working library and a source of great local pride. Visitors can usually look inside when it is open; be quiet and respectful.
