About Millennium Elephant Foundation
The Millennium Elephant Foundation, near Kegalle not far from Pinnawala, looks after captive elephants, many of them retired from work, and runs a mobile elephant vet service and volunteer programmes. Visitors can join an elephant walk. Elephant rides have been offered here in the past, and travel guides disagree on whether they still are: we recommend against riding, and suggest you ask exactly what a visit involves before you book.
