About Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil

Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil is the great Hindu temple of Jaffna, dedicated to the god Murugan, with a golden gateway tower and long colonnaded halls. Visit for one of the daily pujas, with drums and nadaswaram pipes. The annual festival, usually in July and August, lasts more than three weeks, with chariot processions on the main days. Men must remove their shirts to enter; everyone removes shoes, and photography inside is restricted.
