About Port City Colombo
Port City Colombo is a new district on about 269 hectares of land reclaimed from the Indian Ocean beside Colombo Fort and Galle Face. Construction began in 2014 and the reclamation was completed in 2019. It is a Special Economic Zone governed by the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Act No. 11 of 2021, and is planned in five precincts: a financial district, Central Park Living, Island Living, a marina and an international island, with homes, offices, hotels, healthcare, education and shops. Its first duty-free mall opened in September 2024; most of the district is still being built.
